Casino Roulette Betting Differences

A great place to start with roulette is on the internet because the software helps you out so much. Whenever you go to place a bet online, the roulette software gives you some indication of where you can put chips - whether it's on an intersection between four numbers, or directly on a number. However, casino roulette is vastly different because there are no guidelines indicating where you can put chips when betting. In fact, many beginning roulette players feel overwhelmed when they first look at a roulette table.
With this being said, it's generally recommended that you start by playing online roulette just to get a feel for the game first. However, if you'd rather break the ice with casino roulette, you should at least note the differences that will arise when playing the game live.
First off, you need to wait for the roulette dealer to clear off all previous bets, and determine who's won and lost before putting any chips on the table. This helps eliminate confusion for the dealer, and will prevent you from looking like a moron.
After the dealer has cleared previous bets away, they'll give players some time to put their chips on the table. When you go to make a bet, please note that you can put chips in any of the indicated spaces outside of the numbered grid (outside bets), and directly on numbers (single number bet), in between two numbers (split bet), at the intersection of three or four numbers (trio bet or corner bet), at the end of a line of 3 numbers (street bet), and at the intersection of two lines of 3 numbers (six line bet). Obviously this isn't the easiest thing to comprehend through reading text, so mouse around an online roulette table to see where you can put bets.
Once you've had a chance to make your roulette bets (remember you can place more than one wager at a time), the dealer will say no more bets; this usually happens when the ball is about to descend into the numbered slots. Be respectful of the dealer's announcement because if you don't, not only will you look like an idiot, but the staff may think that you're cheating.
