Watch Craps Chips in Casinos

added 07.09.2011, 7:10PM

When you're standing at a craps table with lots of excited and cheering players beside you, the last thing you're thinking about is, 'Man, I hope that nobody is lurking around here trying to steal my craps chips.' Unfortunately, this is actually an issue that you need to be concerned with when you're playing casino craps.

After all, people stealing craps chips isn't entirely uncommon - especially for those who play high stakes craps. Pro poker player Greg Mueller found this out the hard way when he was playing high stakes craps at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas. Mueller, who has made close to $1.9 million in live tournament winnings, and won the 2009 WSOP Limit Hold'em Championship, explained his brush with a craps thief after he had a $5,000 chip stolen.

Mueller was playing and having a good time when his friend said that a lurker might have taken one of Mueller's chips. The poker pro then looked down to see that he was indeed missing a $5k chip, and both men took off after the craps thief. There was a mad dash through the casino where both Mueller and his buddy attempted to catch the robber.

Finally, Mueller's friend tackled the crook, and Mueller told the man to give him back the $5k chip and nothing bad would happen to him. The man obliged, but unfortunately for him, Aria security guards took him away - most likely to the police. Mueller, on the other hand, got his money back, and went over to the craps table to resume playing.

It's almost a given that Mueller will be a lot more careful with his craps chips from now on, seeing as how somebody actually stole one from him. It's also worth mentioning that you should periodically check your craps chips whenever you play in a casino to avoid having anything stolen. In addition to this, keep an eye out for any suspicious characters who seem more interested in what those around the table are doing than they are with the actual game. As long as you keep these tips in mind, you should be alright when it comes to protecting your craps chips.
